Pink Lake, Kalbarri (Port Gregory) - PP73
Known also as Hutt Lagoon, the Pink Lake gains it's name for obvious reasons. The stunning & unusually unique pink hues are produced by a particular type of algae in the water (carotenoid-producing Dunaliella Salina). Interestingly the algae is also used as a colouring ingredient in both food & cosmetics which is farmed and produced commercially by the adjacent microalgae production plant.
